2024 Season Opener Falls to Mother Nature
THOROLD, ONTARIO (April 27, 2024) … Due to the persistent rain and out of safety of teams and fans, Merrittville Speedway made the decision to cancel the racing program scheduled for Saturday, April 27.
With the rain that has fallen and with the weather system not moving out of the region until the late evening hours, the call was made to push the 2024 Season Opener to Saturday, May 4.
“May the 4th Be with You” Night, presented by Loop Paint, will feature home track race number one for both the Hoosier Stocks and 4 Cylinders as part of the Duel on the Dirt. Also in competition will be the Bobcat of Hamilton Weekly Racing Series starring the Commercial Auto Electric 358 Modifieds, Semenuk’s ESSO/Baron Roofing DIRTcar Sportsman, and the RONA Doidge Building Centre Mod Lites. There will also be a Star Wars Costume Contest.
Pit Gates will open at 5pm, with grandstands opening at 5:30pm, and racing will get underway at 7pm. For more information, check out the website at www.merrittvillespeedway.com and fans can follow along with My Race Pass.
